K. Ranga Krishnan

Ranga Krishnan, MB, ChB, is the dean of Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School in Singapore and an international expert in treating brain disorders of the elderly. A native of Madras, India, Dr. Krishnan received his medical degree from Madras Medical College and came to Duke as a resident in 1981. After completing his psychology residency and neurobiology fellowship there, he was appointed to the faculty in 1985. He served as chair of the Department of Psychiatry from 1998 until 2009. As department chair, Dr. Krishnan created an innovative and extensive continuing medical education network that featured satellite delivery of content, live lectures, and archived web based material and was recognized as the leader in continuing psychiatric education. As dean of the new Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School, he built the education and research infrastructure. During his tenure, the school has developed and implemented a new method of learning called Team LEAD. Dr. Krishnan has written three books, more than fifty textbook chapters, and more than two hundred journal articles on the subjects of elderly depression, dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, panic disorder, bipolar disorder in late life, and obsessive compulsive disorder.
